The Registration & Information Desk will be open throughout the whole Symposium.
Symposium Language
The official language of the Symposium is English, and no simultaneous translation will be provided. In Bressanone (Brixen), both Italian and German are official languages. Residents are generally very welcoming to visitors, and many speak at least some English, though often with a strong accent.
Certificate of Attendance
All registered attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.
Injuries/Insurance/Liability
The Symposium organizers do not accept any liability for personal injuries and/or loss and/or damages of any kind which may be incurred by the congress participants or by any person accompanying them, during either the official activities or excursions. Delegates participate in all tours/events at their own risk. All people coming to the congress are advised to take out insurance against loss, accidents or damage that could be incurred during the Symposium.
Currency
The currency in Italy is Euro.
Banks offer most favorable exchange rates, unlike exchange booths at airports, rail and bus stations, hotels, stores, and privately run exchange firms, you may find less favorable rates, but more convenient hours.
Electricity
The electrical current in most of Italy is 220 volts, 50 cycles alternating current (AC); the United States runs on 110 volts, 60 cycles AC current. In the United States wall outlets accept plugs with two flat prongs. In Italy, instead, you need continental-type plugs, which have two round prongs. If you bring your own 110-volt devices, you will need a voltage converter, unless your appliance is designed to also work with 220 volts electricity (dual voltage).
Voltage Converter could not be easy to find in Italy. If you need one, get it before you leave home.
International Dialing Code
Italy country code: +39, city code: 0472 (always dial the 0 – even from abroad).
- To call the U.S.: dial 00 + 1 + phone number.
- To call Europe: Your country code (0044 – 0034 – 0033 etc…) + phone number.
Emergency toll-free numbers
113 State Police
112 Emergency
115 Fire Department
118 Ambulance – Health and Medical Emergencies
Tipping
In Italy tipping is not usual but appreciated. If you liked the place or the service, just round up the bill, a few Euros. Tipping cab drivers is unusual, but appreciated, especially if they help you with your luggage and provide you with useful info about getting around in that particular place. Tipping hotel porters and hotel concierge if he/she is helpful in making your stay easier or more pleasant is appreciated also.

Climate
At the end of September the climate in Bressanone area is usually mild if sunny or moderately cool, with temperatures ranging between 10°C (50°F) and 23°C (74°F). Visitors are most comfortable with a light jacket or coat. An all-weather coat will take the chill off cool evenings and rainy days. Be aware that Bressanone is around 560 meters (1837 feet) above see level in the Dolomite mountains, therefore comfortable shoes, warm sweaters and a water-proof jacket are recommended. For more information about the city visit and contact Bressanone Touristic Association www.brixen.org
